Thank you for participating as a speaker for International Podcast Day – an international celebration of the power of podcasts.
First – Check out the official Schedule and make sure your calendar is up to date!
Second – We are using Streamyard as our video conferencing platform this year. Streamyard is very simple to use! Please read the Guest Instructions for more details. Please remember – 1) You must use the latest version of Chrome or Firefox; 2) Use a desktop or laptop for the broadcast, no mobile or cell devices; 3) Use a quality microphone, headphones, and camera; and 4) Use a strong, wired Internet connection to maintain quality, no wireless connections at all please. Be sure to use the setup and equipment you plan to broadcast with on International Podcast Day.
Third – We request that all speakers schedule a Streamyard test with us to make sure that your microphones and webcams/cameras are working properly. A test usually takes only 5 minutes, but we will be available to answer any of your questions. Schedule a time with us here. It is very important to test with the setup and equipment you plan to broadcast with.
Fourth – Five minutes prior to your scheduled hour, speakers will receive a link via email. Do not share the Streamyard link with anyone other than your co-hosts. We go live at the top of each hour. We will introduce the hosts and our sponsors (1-2 minutes). After introductions, we turn the stream over to you. We will end the stream promptly at the 58 minute mark of the hour to prepare for the next speaker. You can expect to have 55 minutes to share. Please be mindful and sensitive of the time so as to not interfere or delay the next speaker’s session and event. We will always be monitoring and listening to the live stream to make sure there are no technical issues. Also, if you need help filling the time with additional conversation, we can jump in. There is screen sharing as an option in Streamyard in the event you want to share a presentation or display any websites/resources.
Fifth – There are chat features integrated into the Streamyard backend (comments from YT, FB, and Twitch will appear) and the Live page (live page comments and Twitter comments do not integrate into Streamyard). It is completely up to you as the host as to whether you take questions or monitor the chat. There is no obligation to involve the chat room if you choose not to do so. On average, we’ve seen that most hosts only need 5 minutes for Q&A, or answer them as they go. And if you don’t get around to Q&A during the live portion, stick around in the chat afterwards to answer. However, as administrators of the feed we may incorporate general welcoming or celebratory comments in the lower third of the video stream throughout. A friendly reminder that foul language is not permitted at all. Any foul language will lead to the ending of your presentation immediately. We pride ourselves on being 100% family friendly.
Sixth – For the live broadcast, the event will be streaming live at internationalpodcastday.com/live, our YouTube page, our Facebook page, our Twitter feed, and our Twitch account. Please send your audience to one of these locations (not Streamyard) to watch and join the chat room, reminding them to use the hashtag #InternationalPodcastDay on all social media. We encourage you to share your IPD broadcast on social media and encourage your community to join the live broadcast.
Thank you again, and we look forward to celebrating with everyone! Thank you all so much and please reach out if you have any questions!
