The 1% Better Podcast
Rob of the Green is the brainchild, and maybe it’s even correct in saying, the alter ego of it’s creator, Rob O’Donohue. Rob is an Irish based Podcaster, Professional Performance Coach, and Director for Project Management & Leadership Coaching at Dell IT. Learning, developing & improving, both himself and helping others have been a long…
a long time passion for Rob. After consuming podcasts to fuel this passion for a number of years, he decided he wanted to switch roles, give something back, and start producing his own content. And so RoboftheGreen.ie was born! It started with the release of the 1% Better Podcast in early 2017, and earlier this year, he launched a second shorter show called The 864. He’s also been actively creating and adding Blogs/Articles, and more recently Videos to the Rob of the Green Platform. The theme & message in all of this content aligns: share learnings that inspire action that leads to betterness. In both Podcasts, Rob aims to provide you with a new perspective, a new tool or approach, or a story of positivity, resilience or grit to help you discover something new, unlock some hidden potential, and motivate you to take action that could lead to you making that incremental gain or improvement, even if it’s just by 1%. Now, with 100+ episodes released, daily and weekly downloads on the rise, and regular positive feedback from listeners that they’re improving by more then 1%, Rob feels like the 1% better movement is starting to gain momentum. And it’s just getting started.
September 30 @ 10AM-11AM PDT – The Unexpected Benefits and Value Gained from Podcasting
When Rob started out on the Podcasting Journey, over 100 interviews ago, he had an idea what he was getting himself into and what to expect. This included hard-work, countless late nights editing, having to get used to hearing his own voice, millions of downloads and followers on social media (some trolls & bots included), a list of sponsors queuing up to buy some airtime on the shows, learning huge amounts from those he talked with over the course of the conversations, fear and excitement of how the work will be received, and hopefully a great deal of satisfaction from the process and results. (joking about the millions of downloads, followers & sponsors piece btw – that was never the goal, or not a realistic one anyway). While many of these expectations and benefits envisioned have been realized (and in many areas exceeded), what has really stood out as the most rewarding part of the journey so far are the number of meaningful and impactful lessons that he never expected when starting out. Increased confidence, improved decisiveness, better listening and questioning skills and developing a real sense of Quid Pro Quo to tease out just a few. In this session, Rob shares the story behind a number of these unexpected benefits, how these learnings transpired, and how each one has made him better. He hopes that the tales from the podcasting adventure provides you with some new perspectives, reflections points, and even the motivation to take action if you’re considering starting or rebooting a podcast of your own. It might help you get clearer on the type of podcast you want to make too as that’s always a very difficult decision to make. To keep in sync with the theme of his own work, if this session has an impact on even 1% of the listeners, then that’s a positive result.
